Kuromarimo reveals sharp spikes hidden inside his afro gloves to add extra damage to his punches. "Marimo" is a type of like algae that can grow into an afro-like ball if grown properly. These algaes are rather rare considered a national treasure in Japan where it is a highly protected species.

Kurmarimo throws an afro shaped hairball at his opponent that sticks to the opponent with a strong static cling. While the afros themselves aren't that dangerous they do burn quite well and make great targets for Chess' Checkmate attack.
