Anime/Manga differences
ROMANCE DAWN ARC:
Order: After the prologue about the Pirateking, the manga begins in present time with the history of Luffy's childhood. In it anime this will not be told until later.
Manga exclusive: We can see how Luffy mades his famous scar under his eye. He do it to demonstrate to Shanks' crew his value and to be accepted in their adventures becoming a pirate.
Difference: In the manga Luffy eats the Gomu Gomu no Mi while Higuma and his gang are in Makino's pub.Once they leave, Luffy gets upset because Shanks has not defended and he rises with the intention to leave, Shanks granbs Luffy from the arm and they noticed how it stretches. In it anime Luffy doesn't eats the Gomu Gomu no Miuntil Higuma and his gang leave. He do it because he is annoyed about Shanks not defendeding. Shanks realizes and tries to prevent him from eating it, but it will be already too late.
Colors: The colors chosen for Higuma's skin and coat are different in the anime and manga.
Colors: The colors chosen for Makino's clothes and hair are different in the anime and manga.
Manga exclusive: In the manga is show how Luffy leaves his hometown to become a pirate. We can see how he takes revenge from the King of the Coast that ated Shanks' arm and as how he ended in his boat trapped in a current and decides to escape from there inside a barrel (point in which the anime begins).
Difference: In the manga Luffy's barrel discovered by Koby in the border of a beach. In the anime the barrel is rescued from the sea by the crew of the ship that Alvida would attack.
Difference: Peppoko, from Alvida Pirates, has a drastic change of design. But, the original design of the manga is reserved for a secondary pirate.
Anime exclusive: Nami does his first appearance robbing aboard the ship that was assaulted by the Alvida Pirates. In the manga she will appears first at Orange Village.
Manga exclusive: Koby shows Luffy in a forest near where the crew of Alvida is based the boat in which he expects to escape (Luffy confuses it with a coffin). Alvida discovers them and there is where she is defeated, in it anime she is defeated on the ship.
Difference: In the manga they condemn Zoro for kill to one of the dogs of Helmeppo in the street to protect to Rika. In the anime he kills the dog in Ririka's pubs and Helmeppo threatens Zoro whereupon if he does not fulfill the sentence them Rika and her mother will undergo the consequences.
Difference: Zoro's sentence in the manga is of one month being tied to a post and without eating, in the anime it's changed to nine days.
Manga exclusive: In the manga Morgan kills with the axe the Marine that refuses to go to kill Rika because she is just a little girl, in the anime he simply throws him to the ground with his arm.
Manga exclusive: While Koby tries to untie Zoro he is shot.
Order: In the manga Zoro's past is telled to us in its totality while he is tied up to the post, but in The animes we only see a portion of it since the rest will be appear in the following arcs.
Anime exclusive: We see how Zoro makes diverse training to manage to be as strong as Kuina and how he starts using three swords at them same time. It's also showed a part of Kuina's burial.
Manga exclusive: Morgan orders his men to commit suicide.
BUGGY ARC:
Difference: In the manga Buggy shoots with the cannon to the pirate who notifies him that Nami has stolen them the navigation chart, in anime he just drowns him a little and pardons his life.
Manga exclusive: Nami competes with Buggy's crew to see who holds longer drinking.
Colors: The colors chosen for Mohji and Richie are different in anime and manga.
Manga exclusive: During the fight between Zoro and Kabaji, in the manga at seeing that Kabaji insists on striking on Zoro's wound, he decides to open it by cutting it to level the combat. In it animates the cut will be eliminated and replaced by some words by Zoro about the difference between both of them.
Manga exclusive: Buggy splits over Luffy's hat and later Luffy cleans it by rub it over Buggy's face.
CAPTAIN KURO ARC:
Order: Gaimon's story in the manga goes between the Buggy and Kuro arcs, participating only Luffy and Nami in it (Zoro remains slept in the boat because he is wounded), in it anime it is introduced between the Kuro and Krieg arcs adding to the story Usopp and later Zoro that is no longer wounded.
Difference: In he anime, the Usopp Pirates make use of some flags to simulate a false army and to intimidate Luffy and the others. In the manga, Usopp simply tolds them that he is brave pirate captain leading the island but they soon discovered his lie.
Colors: Usopp's Slingshot in the manga is brown, while in the anime is green. Looks like that Oda was satisfied with the change and he ended also using that color for the manga.
Difference: In the manga Luffy decides to enter in Kaya's mansion jumping calmly the fence, in the anime he uses a "Gomu goma no Ohanashicyuni" taking everybody with him.
Difference: In the manga Kaya's room in the ground floor and Usopp told her his stories seated in the ground, in the anime the room is in the first floor and Usopp needs to raise a tree.
Difference: In the manga Kaya never leaves her room when Usopp comes tos ave her, in the anime he is able to take her out by the force.
Anime exclusive: After Kuro destroys Kaya's gift and attacks Merry, in the anime they added a scene where Kuro enters in Kaya's room and joys with her upcoming murder.
Difference: In the manga the Usopp Pirates begin to suspect from Kuro when they see Kaya go towards the coast. In the anime they trust Captain Usopp and they try to get in the mansion.
Difference: After Sham and Buchie rebelion, in the manga Kuro nails his claws them in the neck, in the anime he points with them to their faces.
Difference: When Nami manages to wake up Luffy in the manga Jango's chakram hits him in the back of his head, whereas in the anime he catches it with the teeth.
Difference: In the manga when Kaya arrives at the battleground she is incapable to shoot Kuro, Usopp tries to give him a punch. In the anime Usopp akes the Kaya's pistol and tries to shoot him.
Manga exclusive: Buchie thanks to its fat body demonstrates to be more resistant that Sham and has two more assaults against Zoro before being definitively defeated.
Colors: In the manga the wood decorations of the Going Merry, as the prow mask, are not colored and conserve their texture. In the anime, to give the ship some variety of color, all the decorations are in white.
