Red Grand Characters is a book about the OP characters, it was released the 01-10-2002 in Japan and has 263 pages, 8 of them in color. It contains detailed information of the main characters and the pirate crews, also a small psychological analysis of these ones. But the outstanding of the book is the inclusion of the first version of "Romance Dawn ", an alternative history of the beginning of Luffy's adventure. The chapters from the 1 to the 6 are dedicated to Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji and Chopper, with all luxury of details and description of their attacks. The chapter 7 contains Buggy's minihistory and description of other pirate crews (Shanks, Buggy, Kuroneko...). The chapter 8 is the the mentioned version of "Romance Dawn".

This book is divided into two parts, one dedicated to information about One Piece's world and the other targeted to promote the "One Piece Z" film. It includes a world map where we can see the division of the different seas. There is a section dedicated to the islands, where some receive name for first time. It describes in detail the course of the journey of the Straw Hat crew, from their entrace to the Grand Line until the reached Punk Hazard. Another section includes the different tribes in this world, comparing them with some familiar characters. It includes a ranking of marine animals by size compared to Luffy and Shirahoshi. It also explains the composition of a pirate crew, from the various jobs inside one. Finally, we find a compilation of the mysteries of the series, as the will of "D", the Poneglyphs or the Ancient Weapons. The second part's highlights are some designs from One Piece Ten exhibition amd sketches of the new characters from the "One Piece Z" film.
