After chasing Luffy meets his brother and later was captured by the Marines and imprisoned in Impel Down. But manages to escape thanks to Luffy and the other prisoners, departing to Marine Ford. After the war, Buggy's past into Gol D. Roger's crew was made public, the escaped prisoners from Impel Down decide to join the Buggy Pirates and the World Government began to see him as a threat. Buggy's Past Buggy once was on a pirate ship with Luffy's hero, Shanks, when they were apprentices in Gol D. Roger's crew. Shanks accidently made Buggy eat the Bara Bara fruit and lost his map. That is why Buggy hates him.
